Good day...

Good day......

Started with visiting my 91 year old aunt Charlsie with my sister.

Then to the lake with friends.

Then to eat wings with friends.

2013 Veteran's Day Weekend

So very proud my daddy Glen J Maynard served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
Daddy didn't have a middle name but had to in order to join the Navy. They gave him the initial J.  But it doesn't have a name with the J.  It's just a plain old J....

US Naval Forces China office

This pic is of my daddy in World War I I in the Navy in Pacific.  I've always wondered where exactly where this photo was taken.  Maybe a school or orphanage in China.  It's always been one of my favorites.  Love the grin on dad's face
I have so many questions now that I'm older.  So wish I had daddy here to talk to about em.

One of my favorites.  Photo from dad's ship with another ship way off in background in rough water. This pic just seems all encompassing of the war.

Always something down on the farm...

Love farming life but maintenance and repair seem never ending.

This is what a fence looks like after a watering tank crashes through because it broke loose from the four wheeler.

This is said offending water tank. It was unhurt. Wish the same could be said about the fence.

But thankfully it wasn't the Kiser Drag that crashed.  Our luck it would have been damaged and it's an essential part of every day work round here.

New License Plate

Had to get new tags in September.  The Predators purple tag had to be traded for gold. Didn't want to but had to. I really, really, really don't like the new.  Wonder if I can trade it for my old breast cancer tag....

Gates

Farm life tidbit.  If you open a gate, close a gate.   Or farmers will be chasing their livestock in the middle of the night.

Prana

My new Prana tunic and boggen from The Outdoor Store in Athens.  love......even if the wool is a little itchy.

Peaceful

This is grand

Love her!  What a breast cancer trooper and she can sure dance.  Hope you dance again soon doc!

Night Crawlers

Since Chris won't let me use his expensive lures, and I don't really need them for bluegill anyway, he bought me some night crawlers to fish with.

When he told me he was going to pick up night crawlers the day before we were going to go fishing I told him I didn't like to use crickets.  I use earthworms.  He said that was what night crawlers are...earthworms.

I said no, night crawlers are crickets.

Chris said earthworms are sold as night crawlers.  And crickets are sold as crickets.

He was right.  The blue container is a bunch of night crawlers....worms...

My fishing was a little off tonight. ..

Caught a bass on first cast!

First cast was luck....

My first catch. Don't mind baiting
but I don't like to take the fish off the hook..

Second..

Third...

Since Chris seemed to be catching all the fish,
I made him give me his rod and reel.  I cast and got a hit.
When it got near the shore it spit my bait out along with
someone else's.

Meanwhile I told Chris he could use my rod and reel and float.
What does he do?  Casts out and immediately has a hit and
reels one in.  A catfish.

So....I took my rod and reel and float back and caught a
blue fill while he......caught another bas...

Sounds Interesting

Hmmmmmm......sounds interesting.....to watch.  I'm too old to get hurt. Well.....I'd probably get hurt at any age.  I was first but also last chosen for Red Rover....

Chuckle Out Loud

Chuckling out loud is a great way to start a morning.

An elderly man called to ask about his taxes, when re-appraisals are, and to make sure his acreage was still on greenbelt.  I answered all his questions.

The man told me thank you and ask if I had heard about the elderly woman who got caught shoplifting.  I said no, was she in Monroe County?

The man said, yes, she got caught shoplifting.  A week later she went before the judge.  The judge asked the woman what she stole.  She said a can of peaches.  The judge asked how many peaches are in a can.  She said six.  He told her, "well, I think six days in jail is fair for six peaches".  She responded yes, that was fair.  Her husband then jumped up and said, Sir, she also stole a can of peas!"

I laughed and laughed and told him to call me next week with another story!

Packy

Our friend Packy, who was Chris's best man, at our wedding loves the lake as much as my hubby. He braved the cold tonight, in shorts no less, to drive the boat while Christopher wake boarded.

October

October is Domestic Violence Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I got caught up in other things forgetting to post from events.  So here are a few.

Organized a wear purple day at courthouse annex for Domestic Violence Awareness.
