Today was a very emotional day for many at the Hull Homestead. From shock of me cleaning, to funny jokes while Bridget cut her mom's hair, and personal words of family. Precious, but at times painful, memories made. I'm so honored to have been welcomed into the Hull family in 1990.
What joy Emma Lee has given me. And also mothering when my mama died all those years ago. While there is sadness to come there is also strength in the bond that will always sprout from the steadfast love of my MIL (mother-in-law lol).
Social media is a wonderful thing. It's amazing all the things you can do. Friends and family to stay in contact with. The transitions have been interesting. From My Space, to Facebook, to blogging, to Twitter, to Tumblr, to Instagram, to Snapchat. I tried Tumblr. (Me, not so much.) I believe it's the young people creating, adults following so the young have to continually create something new. Who wants adults to follow? However, social media also gets out of control. I'm bumfuzzled as to the ways people use social media to hurt others. Majority of the time justifying behavior. Sneaking around communicating in private should be a red flag to at least one party involved. What kind of person would do this? There is a reason. A reason they use, once again, to justify their behavior. In reality there is no excuse....
Then the whole bullying phenomenon. Being a teenager is a different world than when I was in the 80's. We passed notes. Notes that maybe 5 people would read. The Internet can change person's life. Forever haunting mistakes made as a young person.
Personally I'm glad there was no social media, nor cell phones. We were more innocent to the evils of the present world.
Watch my blog for post about this. Probably my longest ever. I'm almost at my 50,000 mark and this will help.
