Some of the things you may want to make sure you have:
- Check your medicine to make sure you have enough to last the next 7 days. Make sure any medications you might need are refilled tomorrow.
- Dog/cats/livestock-make sure you have all the dog/cat food you need for 7 days as well as grain or hay for livestock.
- Batteries
- Candles
- Flashlight
- Milk
- Bread
- Purchase groceries that don't have to be cooked just in case power goes out and not back on quickly. I'm picking up a couple of steaks and we have hot dogs. Those things we can cook on our outdoor grill.
- Water
- Baby food and diapers for 7 days
- Matches
- Gas for a generator if you have one.
- Full tank of gas in your car in case something happens and you have to leave in a hurry. Don't want to have to stop for gas if you have an emergency and need to be somewhere.
- Make sure tank for grill is full. Many foods can be cooked on the grill if the power is out. Don't want to not have enough fuel.
Please add anything other supplies you would suggest to prepare for the ice storm Please post those in the comments.
Sand and ice cream salt, to melt ice on steps or sidewalks and for traction.
ReplyDeleteI hate hate hate icey roads.
ReplyDeleteThis is all a great reminder, thanks Marna!! A few years back our power went out for over a week and we were thankful that we had our generator and bought a propane space heater that sure made things more comfortable!!!
ReplyDeleteLuckily the bad stuff missed us last night and today! Now, warmer temps next week. But possible thunderstorms Wednesdayish.
ReplyDeleteCrazy TN weather. If you don't like the weather in TN just stay around till tomorrow. It'll change! lol
