October 1
What is Tuesday? Well, it's the beginning of the NHL season. But more importantly it's breast cancer awareness month. Ladies. If you haven't had your yearly mammogram make an appointment tomorrow.
Mazda vs The Dragon
As we were zooming down 129 today I kept watching for motorcycles to come up on us. I told Chris that the ole Mazda added a degree of difficulty to their taming of the dragon.
He laughed and kept on a zooming. Reliving glory days from 20 years ago on his Yamaha I reckon. (I think it was a Yamaha...and I think it was 20 years ago......)
I was gripping the door like I used to grip him on the back of that thing and asked how fast we were going?
Chris said, "Marna, I'm only going 35."
I said, "I want off the carousel..."

The Wars of the Roses
"The Wars of the Roses" is living up to other Alison Weir books. If you enjoy history, especially Tudor history, you will love her books.

Breast Next Test
My "Angelina Jolie" test was today at Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Well not the genetics test she had. I already past that one. It was the new "Breast Next" test. The new one tests 14 additional genes. Now, those who know me or read my blog know I'm not much on genetic testing. Just a personal opinion.
The results will not be back until the first of the year. Seems since Angelina did her press the lab business has boomed.
The genetics gal, who was extremely young and very nice said that I could have a blood draw or spit into 2 vials. I choose the spit just because there was a rather long wait at the blood line.
Do you know how hard it is to spit that much? I thought, oh well, this will be easy. Ummmm, no.
After taking the first vial in my hand my mouth immediately went dry. Geez. I proceeded to read all the releases that go with medical procedures (that I never read and just scanned today) trying to produce enough spittle to fill the test tubes.
I told the genetics girl (she was young enough to still be a girl) "I'm trying to think of something good to eat so my mouth will water." (Silence.....) "You know, like a dog salavates at the dinner bell." (Small laugh.) "You know, Pavlo."
She said "maybe try to think of something sour? Like a lemon." I tried that. My mouth went even more dry.
By the second vial I told her I was almost dehydrated.
I don't think the young woman got my sense of humor this afternoon during our visit. And I wish I had had the blood draw.....

Raven
Raven, aka Grumpy, aka More Like Whiz, has been at our farm since she was a baby two year old. She is now eight.
I can remember going with Chris to pick the mare up for training as a two year old filly. Her owners had nicknamed her Grumpy when she was born.
We loaded her up for her first trip and stood to speak with Judi and Graham for a minute. Raven, as Chris later re-named her, proceeded to knock the window out of our horse trailer. A piece of the glass hit the side of my nose and cut it a little. I kinda thought at that moment, oh no, she might be a tough one for Chris to break....
When a horse has been at the farm for so long it's hard to imagine them leaving. I never imagined she'd be mine. Nor really thought I'd be riding again. (Ummmm....not that I will ride that much. I really enjoy being the groom.)

My New Horse
I don't know the exact date but know the month and the year. I haven't ridden since March 2010. Rode the first time the other day. My new mare. Raven. Heartfelt thanks to Judi and Graham. You'll never know.
